“We look forward to shaping this new chapter of the ISOLITE company history together with you. We will do our utmost making this a sucess and invite you to be a part of this fascinating journey.”

Our history

The origins of ISOLITE GmbH date back as far as 1878, when chemical engineer Dr. Carl Grünzweig and businessman Paul Hartmann had a vision: to invent insulating materials, develop insulation products, and open up a whole new market with them. They wanted to make energy saving and efficiency improvement available to everyone. Together they founded ‘Fabrik chemisch-technischer Produkte von Grünzweig & Hartmann oHG’ in Ludwigshafen, Germany, a company that would grow into a successful global player over the next decades.

One hundred years later, in 1978, a team of experts in high temperature insulation was formed to better meet the specific needs of this sector. Demand grew so rapidly that the team of experts soon became a department, then a division, and then ultimately, in 1997, a separate company: G+H ISOLITE GmbH. This company rapidly went on to become a leading and flexible supplier of high temperature and high-tech insulation solutions. More and more manufacturers in the aerospace, automotive, mechanical engineering and turbine construction sectors came to value the expertise ISOLITE was able to deliver.

After the first management buy-out in 2006, automotive operations were placed under a new company, ISOLITE Automotive GmbH in 2007. Through another management buy-out in 2010, ISOLITE gained even more independence and established MINILEIT Inc. in 2012, to be able to represent North America and strengthen connections with our customers oversees. In August 2015, we entered into a joint venture with the Korean company MMT Automotive (Mirae Metal Technology) to open up the Asian market, mainly in Korea and Japan. In 2017 change of shareholder at ISOLITE: The listed Japanese company Hitachi Chemicals Co. Ltd. acquires HQ Equita shares. Building on the materials expertise of both companies, the group offers its customers complementary technology portfolios that present ample opportunities for joint developments.

In 2018, ISOLITE looked back on a 40-year success story. Over this time, the company based in Ludwigshafen am Rhein in Germany’s Rhineland-Palatinate has grown into an insulation specialist that operates across the globe.

The need for sophisticated insulation systems is constantly growing – and with it the ISOLITE Group.
